Ms. Krissia Mendez has been involved in school organizations since high school, particularly those that promote the Hispanic/Latino culture. Among involvement in other organizations, Ms. Mendez was the president of the following organizations and is very proud to be completing what she terms a "trifecta" of presidency:
High School: Spanish Honor Society
Undergraduate: Lambda Theta Alpha, Latin Sorority, Inc.
Law School: Hispanic American Law Student Association
In these positions, Ms. Mendez has achieved great personal growth and has learned the ability to motivate others towards a positive common goal. She has also built a strong network in the Central Florida area in these positions that keeps expanding.
Ms. Mendez is passionate about promoting her heritage and culture in the legal profession. Unfortunately, Hispanics/Latinos, and Hispanic/Latino women in particular, are severely underrepresented as attorneys; even in areas with a high population of Hispanics/Latinos. Recognizing this void, Ms. Mendez aims to use her leadership skills and the network she has built in these positions to encourage talented Hispanic/Latina women to forge a path to become respected professionals in the legal field.
On September 12, 2013, Ms. Mendez was awarded with a Book Scholarship from the Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida (HBACF). She was awarded the scholarship as a result of her ties to the Central Florida community, her leadership background, and her continued support of HBACF.
